Take medicines as instructed by your doctor to help reduce the number of manic episodes. To help prevent a manic episode , avoid triggers such as caffeine, alcohol or drug use, and. But warning signs of bipolar disorder are often confused with major depression, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), drug-induced highs or just plain moodiness.


Paying attention to these changes can help you respond quickly to manage or even prevent an episode. While bipolar disorder often has symptoms that include cycles of elevated and depressed moods the symptoms can defy the classic manic depression pattern manifesting as depression.
