Iron deficiency symptoms depression

What are the symptoms of low iron? Can low iron cause depression? Should I be worried about iron deficiency? What does iron deficiency lead to?


It is a common knowledge that deficiency in iron can cause anemia.

In fact, it is one of the leading causes of anemia in the world. But it does not end there. These include poor health, concentration and work productivity ( ). Signs and symptoms of iron deficiency vary depending on the severity of the anemia, how quickly it develops ,. Iron deficiency anemia signs and symptoms may include: Extreme fatigue. Chest pain , fast heartbeat or shortness of breath. Headache , dizziness or lightheadedness.


Inflammation or soreness of your tongue.

Anything that makes you feel physically uncomfortable will usually result in a significant change, which can be called a symptom. This is simply a sign that you aren’t getting enough oxygen around your body where it is neede which in turn reduces your ability to create and use energy. Pica, the odd behavioral compulsion to eat nonnutritive foods such as dirt or clay,. Its symptoms are similar to depression: fatigue, irritability, brain fog. Further study is required to clarify the mechanism in the association between IDA and psychiatric disorder.


There is another form of iron deficiency. This deficiency does not certainly lead to anemia. However, it can cause several symptoms such as sleep disorders, skin problems, depression , and tiredness.


Iron is important for maintaining optimum levels of hemoglobin, which is the oxygen-carrying chemical in the bloodstream. Fatigue and tiredness are common in people who have a low iron level. Lack of oxygen in the body causes constant fatigue and tiredness. The most common psychological disorder is depression. A patient with ID anemia (IDA) show signs and symptoms of behavioral and mood disorders like depression.


Extreme tiredness is related to the fact that there are not enough red blood cells to carry oxygen throughout the body - the tissues and organs don’t receive the necessary amount of oxygen they nee resulting in a lack of energy. Tiredness is the most common symptom of iron deficiency. While an iron deficiency may not be the sole cause of depression , it can cause symptoms similar to depression such as a lack of appetite, irritability, extreme fatigue, headaches and mood swings.


Having a broad range of symptoms , especially before diagnosis, can be troubling and lead to feelings of sadness, helplessness and depression.

Other associated symptoms can include hair loss , loss of energy, headache , difficulty concentrating , leg cramps , and insomnia. Depression is a disorder associated with major symptoms such as increased sadness and anxiety, loss of appetite, depressed moo and a loss of interest in pleasurable activities. If there is no timely therapeutic intervention, this disorder can lead to varied consequences.


Thir ID may be due to inappropriate eating habits in some cases but the association among IDA, eating disorder, and episodic mood disorder with changed eating pattern is still unclear.
