Sudden memory loss for an hour

The patient had a medical history of hypertension and hyperlipidemia.

E was taking carvedilol (Coreg) and fenofibrate (Lipofen). He had no history of head trauma, headaches, seizures , or thyroid disease and had not experienced periodic confusion or memory loss before. Dementia is a slow decline in memory , problem-solving ability, learning ability, and judgment that may occur over several weeks to several months. Depending on the cause , memory loss may have either a sudden or gradual onset, and memory loss may be permanent or temporary.


The memory loss usually only lasts for a few hours, but can sometimes last for days or weeks.

Memory loss may be limited to the inability to recall recent events,. Most of these conditions can be treated. Your doctor can screen you for conditions that cause reversible memory impairment. Possible causes of reversible memory loss include: Medications.


Certain medications or a combination of medications can cause forgetfulness or confusion. A concussion is an injury to the brain, and may cause confusion, drowsiness, memory loss and headache. Transient global amnesia.


Symptoms usually last for hours and then memory returns. A medical evaluation is the only way to determine the cause of sudden memory loss. Retention of personal identity despite memory loss. I experience both with every migraine, but I have the migraines so close together it seems I am always in a brain fog. After forty plus years of migraines, which have only gotten worse as I have aged (I am 63) I have found that some memory loss is permanent. People who have fibromyalgia may experience similar fogginess on a daily basis.


Other conditions that may cause brain fog include: anemia. I am and had my first memory loss episode after lifting weights approx years ago. I was hospitalized over night and came to my senses approx hours from the initial event, but those eight hours were a blank. Since then I have had two other incidents to a lesser degree. When a young man suffers marked memory loss , head trauma, drugs abuse and induced severe hypoglycemia, must be at the top of your list.
