But there are ways to support someone with major depression. I know how much it sucks to wake up everyday only to be showered with negative thoughts and sadness. It causes feelings of intense sadness and hopelessness, low self-esteem and in some cases, suicidal thoughts, ideation and even suicide.

There is a big difference, however, between something that’s difficult and something that’s impossible. While recovering from depression isn’t quick or easy, you do have more control than you realize—even if your depression is severe and stubbornly persistent. The key is to start small and build from there. The recovery process can be stressful for partners of anxiety sufferers.
