What to say to someone who is sad about life

Or is there something else I can do? This is a temporary-yet-painful situation. It won’t always be like this. And bloody hell, you are right, it DOES suck. It IS hard to imagine a way out of this mess.

A reminder from a friend or loved one that, indee they’re not alone and they are loved can be invaluable.

SUPPORTING SOMEONE WITH DEPRESSION. What to say to someone who’s depressed. For a long time, no one really talked about depression at all. Now we’re working hard to change that — and we need to learn how to talk about depression in the right way. There is not much you can say.

You know how she feels about her dog but words are only words. As a thoughtful gesture you could get a little miniature version of her dog. Tell him that his spirit did not arrive here as a mistake.

Everyone this planet is here for a reason and his is to help others with his god given gift and talent. For instance, if they had a parent die after a long and complicated illness, of course they are going to feel sad. You don’t know if someone isn’t just slacking off, but is struggling with a real health problem. They can have bad days, and “better” days. Depression can have its ups and downs.

If someone has hidden or undiagnosed depression, they might seem like they get random mood swings, depending on if their depression is consistent or not. Even in the strongest person (because even the strongest person can get depressed), the stigma can leave a mark. Be the one who pushes against it. Point out when you see a glimpse of their pre-depressed self. The very nature of depression renders it difficult to remember life without depression.

The person they were without depression is still there. Research has shown that people tend to withdraw when they are depresse so reaching out to a friend in need is an important first step. Learning to listen without giving unwanted advice, counseling, psychoanalyzing, or interjecting your own stories and concerns is often the best prescription for a loved one who is feeling down.

What do you say to someone who’s depressed ? All too often, it’s the wrong thing. People still have such a cloudy idea of what mental illness is,” Kathleen Brannon, of Herndon, Virginia. While a text message can’t cure depression, it can remind someone of their worth and let them know they’re not alone.

But it can be tricky to know what to say — especially if you don’t understand what it’s really like to experience depression.

I went through the same thing when I. So when someone is sad , you must approach them with your emotional min NOT your logical one. You comfort them by making them feel like everything will be okay. Not in a condescending way, and not using those exact words. What you must say depends on the situation, however your main goal is to make them feel safe, love and tranquil. Having a supportive person to talk to when you’re feeling depressed can really help ease the symptoms a little.

In my opinion, avoiding the subject is the worst tactic. It’s kind of a minefield if you have never experienced depression yourself. The situation’s complicated by an issue on the depressed person’s side.

It’s very hard for someone with depression to think clearly,.
