Being unhappy isn’t the same as being depressed. But major depressive disorder — a type of depression — is much more complicated. It can also cause physical symptoms of pain, appetite changes, and sleep problems.

An I think, “depression” may be one of the most inadequate words in our vocabulary. Typically depressed people are depicted as being bed-ridden and incapable of functioning. Feeling down from time to time is a normal part of life, but when emotions such as hopelessness and despair take hold and just won’t go away, you may have depression.
