Over the years our kids have collected stuffed animals from around the world and at Christmas we put them all on a giant Christmas tree. I was put on plavix and lamictal but the seizures keep coming, however, each one is less than the other. With each seizure, I suffer short term memory loss. My memory eventually comes back but a little still remains lost.
Smith on lamictal memory loss : Seroquel (quetiapine) can be sedating, and this could cause problems registering information to begin with. But seroquel (quetiapine) does not directly alter memory function.
Bipolar disorder itself can cause cognitive or memory problems. How they can cause memory loss : These medications (prescription and over-the-counter) inhibit the action of acetylcholine, a chemical messenger that mediates a wide range of functions in the body. In the brain, they inhibit activity in the memory and learning centers, which can lead to memory loss. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.
I took trazodone for a few days! Lamictal trouble with confusion and memory? My doc upped lamictal 1mg (taking 300mg now) a while back and since then I have short term memory loss.
The main fibers in the brain that are targeted by this medication is the corpus callosum.
Now does it effect memory ? If the medication interferes with the hippocampus or limbic system, then memory might be alter. Unfortunately doctors rarely consider this or will not take such reports seriously. There is limited information available on the discontinuation of lamictal. Thus, doctors do not have any solid guidelines for weening a patient off of lamotrigine. Loss of sensory memory and bipolar: Sensory memory is the retention of stimulus received through our senses of sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch.
Sensory perception is sometimes disturbed during bipolar disorder, for example the hallucinations experienced in bipolar psychosis. However, this is not the same as a loss of sensory memory. There are conflicting findings as to the prevalence of CAEs.
I think it is something to do with. Like life-threatening rash, memory loss , uncoordination? I was just talking to my congregation today, asking for prayer for short-term memory loss. I thought I was the only one, or that STM problems were caused by epilepsy alone.
I am studying for a certification exam, and I have to read things 5-times to comprehend. I have been on 100mg and today will begin 150mg. I had a very bad week last week and while teaching, I made several errors in what I was writing on the board.
I could not remember anything.
Even though we went back down to 3mg a day, my mind did not improve. I have not seen memory loss as a side effect of lamictal , but I am sure this is what caused my problem! Additional Information.
