What to say to someone who feels hopeless

You are important to me even when you are feeling down. People who are feeling hopeless often think they are weak for feeling this way. They may believe they have a character flaw. Reassure your friend or loved one that you can understand why they might be thinking these types of thoughts,.

Even though they are feeling lonely and isolate they choose to be alone because the thought of keeping someone else entertained requires too much energy.

While writing Beat the Blues Before They Beat You, I realized the single most important issue to address for someone who is depressed is her feeling of hopelessness. That person who doesn’t know if life will get better. If that’s you, you’re not alone and I’m writing this to you. If you know someone in a similar spot, sometimes there’s nothing you can say to make them feel better.

Sometimes drawing attention to their sadness will only make things worse. Take them out of the darkness and into the light. Indee depression is highly treatable and the vast majority of people who receive treatment get better.

Society has taught us to feel bad about not feeling good. Part of this is because of the ill-informed idiots in the community who don’t understand enough about it. Even in the strongest person (because even the strongest person can get depressed), the stigma can leave a mark. Point out when you see a glimpse of their pre-depressed self. Be the one who pushes against it.

Here goes with the unsugared. Lots of people experience depression, while others just have bad days or just are feeling down on themselves. What do you say to someone who feels worthless and useless?

No matter why they’re depresse sa or unmotivated to do much of anything, one thing is certain — it’s a tough feeling to experience. How to motivate someone who has depression? How do you help someone who self harms?

What to do when you are feeling lonely, lost and depressed? Celebrate the fact that you’re smart enough, informed enough, strong enough, sensitive enough to feel utterly hopeless. Advertisement- Cry (like an elephant).

For some of us, that person may be our counselor or doctor. The important part is that we aren’t holding it all in, that we’re talking about how we feel and that we’re letting someone help us.

Challenge Negative Thoughts: A big part of depression or anxiety is those thoughts in our heads that tell us things are ba we are hopeless and that it won’t get better. When troubles strike, it can feel like things will only get worse, but that is the pessimist in us talking. If we keep the faith and respond to the situation with positive and constructive actions, we can break out of the cycle and things can get better. Now, based on her actions, it would be easy for me to say “People can’t be truste” “People are ba” or “Everyone is out to get me.

I could lose my faith in and hope for humanity. Many people in many places around the world feel hopeless. Hopelessness is just a piece of Emotion…just like happiness, sadness, angry, and whatever…. The way you’re feeling will change.

Often times, people suffering from depression feel like depression is who they are. They’re so used to feeling depressed that they believe feeling any other way is impossible. It’s important to remind people suffering from depression that the way they’re feeling will change if they allow it. In a society that is all about ‘going’ and ‘getting things done’ and ‘time-saving’, many of us (whether we have anxiety or not) feel bad when we are not being as ‘productive’ as we feel we could be.

Anxiety-sufferers often feel burdened to get over anxiety attacks as quickly as possible. Someone who feels trapped in a cycle of self-loathing often feels unworthy of reaching out to people around them. They often worry about being a burden or nuisance to others, since they are aware of how infectious their mood can be for those nearby.
