Depression is not a sign of weakness

What you see on the outside is not a reflection of someone’s inside and in a world where your worth is measured by followers, retweets, and mentions,. Maybe depression wasn’t a sign of weakness or lack of trying. My anxiety might actually be something physical, chemical even. As many people know, the road to medication can be extremely difficult. It is the mind and bodies way of telling you that there is definitely something wrong in your life.


Do not ignore these, your body can only take so much before it decides to give up.

Depression, anxiety and panic attacks are not signs of weakness…. Unfortunately, the lingering image of depression as a female condition may keep men who are clinically depressed from recognising the symptoms of depression and seeking treatment. It’s not a sign of weakness, it’s a fact. Put this as your status if you or someone you know has or has had depression. Anyone suffering from depression feels like everything is wrapped in darkness.

Nor are they signs of giving up or neglect.

In fact, we could say that they are signs of struggle, of fighting with adversity or uncomfortable and painful personal situations, losses, bad experiences and uncertainty. It is a sign that you have been trying to be strong for too long. If you have to cry, cry, if you prefer to write, write, if you are a singer, sing.

Educating yourself about depression means you can help eradicate negative stigmas about depression and become an advocate for those who suffer with mental illness. While it’s true that you probably know someone with depression, you may not know who it is. Some people are more susceptible than others even before they are born.


This story provides the genetic and molecular proof. You have to cope with whatever genes and childhood you inherite but it’s not a “level playing field”. It means you have been strong for far too long.
