Sertraline memory loss

Is there a connection between sertraline and memory loss? Does Zoloft cause memory loss? Common side effects caused by sertraline include insomnia, dizziness, and decreased libido, and these side effects should be reported to a medical professional only if they are particularly persistent or severe.

Zoloft dosage depends on the condition being treated. What Drugs, Substances, or Supplements Interact with Zoloft?

I had assumed it was just me but was talking to a friend who said she also had really bad short term memory loss and it seemed to get better when she stopped taking the sertraline. I will of course see my doctor about this at my next review but was wondering if anyone else had this. I have seen it listed as a rare side effect. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Do not stop taking this medicine ( sertraline tablets) all of a sudden without calling your doctor.

You may have a greater risk of side effects. If you need to stop this medicine ( sertraline tablets), you will want to slowly stop it as ordered by your doctor.

Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine ( sertraline tablets). Although memory impairments can be due to depression itself, memory loss appears to be more likely due to SSRI therapy rather than depression symptoms. And have, and are, causing me deliberant, frequent consternation. Including increasing episodes of indiscreet embarrassments. However, memory loss (short-term only) is HUGE.

It has not stopped for WEEKS. So, metally I feel so much better, but the short term memory loss coupled with Tennitus is really reaking havoc on me. I want to know if anti-depressants can cause memory loss ? I was prescribed to Zoloft when I was then was taken off because of suicidal thoughts and actions, was put on Prozac at 1 added Welbutrin at 1 then I got off of Welbutrin and stayed on Prozac until I was and then was prescribed to Lexapro and BuSpar at 17. A faltering thyroid can affect memory (as well as disturb sleep and cause depression, both of which can be causes of forgetfulness).

A simple blood test can tell if your thyroid is doing its job properly. As a service to our readers, Harvard Health Publishing provides access to our library of archived content. Can Sertraline cause Memory Loss ? I had tooken myself off of the kolonopin. I seen very little improvement in cocentration or remembering. I just feel like so much of the time i feel completely blank, with no thoughts at all. Sertraline is a type of antidepressant known as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI).

Memory loss is now required to be listed as a side effect on the label of statin cholesterol-lowering drugs like Lipitor and Crestor. And it’s not just statins, other kinds of cholesterol-lowering drugs were also strongly linked to increased forgetfulness. Sertraline can cause permanent memory problems, particularly if taken irregularly, even at minimum dosage, wrecking careers and friendships.
